During the pandemic, travel was restricted, which led to a slowdown in the economy, but also to a long period in which Romanians in the diaspora stayed away from loved ones and family. In this regard, the European Commission offered on 13 May 2020 recommendations on the gradual and safe resumption of travel. During all this pandemic period, both the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health provided all Romanian citizens with up-to-date information on the situation of international transfers.
Given that the situation regarding the victims of the Covid-19 virus has improved and the authorities have allowed the resumption of activities, we thought to provide you with some useful information if you are abroad and want to return to Romania:
1. Follow the Facebook page and the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where the information related to the number of confirmed cases, the number of confirmed cases and the number of deaths in Romania and Romanians from other countries are constantly updated. You will also find important information about opening borders and the countries from which you can return without isolation. On June 13, the Ministry of Internal Affairs posted on the official Facebook account the list of countries for which the elimination of quarantine / isolation measures is applied starting with June 15, 2020 and these are: Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Croatia, Confederation Switzerland, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary.
This list is updated weekly by the National Institute of Public Health.
2. If you have already purchased a plane ticket to return to Romania, and the flight is canceled, do not worry because the airlines offer you the opportunity to travel at another time or they will return the money.
However, if you have problems and feel unjustified, consult air passenger rights, provided by the EU. In this link you will find EU legislation on this subject, questions and answers on the rights of air transport passengers and you can contact national administrations for information on the applicability of the rules in a particular country.
3. If you want to return to Romania by plane, you must observe some safety measures both at the airport and on the plane. Social distance and wearing a mask are two of the most important measures of prevention and protection against infection with the Covid-19 virus.
For example, Wizz Air posted on its official Facebook page that they have introduced improved cabin health and safety measures and asked passengers to follow these measures. More details here.
4. To limit contact with other people as much as possible, we recommend that you use car rental services. Our company offers you the car rented in safe conditions, being disinfected just before delivery and being equipped with disinfectant.
